Our recent Registered Medical Assisting class in the Postsecondary Center had a special student among them. Amy Berger came to the postsecondary center to take our Adult Diploma Phlebotomy course. She enrolled because her 17-year-old daughter was thinking of dropping out, and Amy felt she could not discourage her from doing so if she herself did not have a diploma. So, she set out to get one! After completing the Adult Diploma Phlebotomy course, Amy enrolled in our Registered Medical Assisting program in order to earn those certifications. But she is not done yet. Now Amy intends to go back to school again, as her ultimate goal is to be a surgical tech. Awesome!
As Amy said, “It was not easy, but I put my mind to it, was determined to complete, and I did it.” Yes, you did, Amy!
Congratulations. Very proud of you!

This summer, the Office of Career Development took a field trip to Mezzacello Urban Farm in Columbus. With a vision that is "Grow, Maintain, Sustain, Explain, and Entertain with applied STEM" and a mission that states, "Create frictionless opportunities for people to explore relationships between ecologies, farming, robotics, automation, and applied STEM in a densely populated urban environment", this visit was well worth the time and gave the team a lot of ideas on how the curriculum can be incorporated with our practices.

Career Development Coordinator James Davis is pretty excited about the record size incoming junior class at C-TEC. Let the joy out, James!
Looking forward to seeing all the new faces in August!
