Medical Assisting (MA)

Join the fast-paced, high demand medical field through this intensive medical assisting program. Students receive multiple credentials from the National Health Career Association (NHA) including: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), and Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (cEHRs). Additional certifications earned include: CPR/First Aid and AED, OSHA 10-hour Health Credential, and Bloodborne Pathogen Training.

Program Specifics

The medical assisting program prepares students with the clinical skills and administrative knowledge necessary to work as a Medical Assistant (MA) in doctor's offices, clinics, and urgent care centers. Upon graduation, students can enjoy a career as a Medical Assistant (MA) or choose to pursue further education. The medical assisting program is a great foundation for any student who plans to work in the medical field.

Medical assisting students learn anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, collecting/preparing lab specimens, performing medical office tests, phlebotomy, administering injections, suture and staple removal, basic wound care, assisting with exams and minor surgical procedures, performing EKGs, understanding medical law and ethics, insurance/ billing processes, medical coding, medical office operations, and electronic health record (EHR) management.
