Criminal Justice (CJ)
Develop the perseverance and knowledge it takes to enforce the law. Students learn the Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to the role of the peace officer; traffic control; military drill ceremonies; physical fitness (utilizing an on-site indoor and outdoor training facility) and written and radio communications. As a junior, students engage in forensic science, as well as associated skills such as fingerprinting and crime scene sketching techniques.
Cadets will earn certifications is IFCPO- International Foundation for Certified Protection Officers certification, ODRC-Corrections Certification, NIMS, ICS, Subject Control Techniques, CPR/First-Aid/AED, NECC 1 Telecommunicator, and Impact Weapons (baton).
Program Specifics
The Criminal Justice program is Para-military, and reinforces the discipline found in the industry of law enforcement and the US Military. Students wear and maintain uniforms and are inspected daily. Students will also learn basic drill and ceremony.
Physical training is a critical part of this program. The students will be provided education on improving and maintaining healthy lifestyles, and will participate in physical training. Students are required to provide a physical from a Doctor prior to participating in physical training.
College Credit Plus courses are available through Columbus State Community College. Students must meet CSCC CCP criteria to receive credit.
