The curriculum includes anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, laboratory techniques, clinical and diagnostic procedures, pharmaceutical principles, administration of medicines, CPR/First Aid, AED training, medical office software, medical terminology, medical law and ethics, insurance/ billing, medical coding, office practices, and patient relations.

Program Specifics

The Medical Assisting program prepares students with the clinical skills and administrative knowledge necessary to work as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) in doctor's offices, clinics, urgent care centers, and hospitals. To be eligible to take the RMA exam, students must complete 720 hours of medical assisting coursework with 160 of those hours at an externship site of their choice.
