ABLE Services FREE!
ABLE Program – Prepare for the GED and other tests
Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) is available at a variety of convenient times and at no charge. These classes are a great way to improve your employability or prepare to enroll in college or other training programs. You’ll learn how to use a scientific calculator (used in the GED tests), as well as prepare for the GED test. You can improve math, reading and writing skills to increase college placement and workplace credential scores.

Power UP/ABLE Orientation
Completion of orientation is required before entering the Adult Basic and Literacy Education classes. At orientation, you will evaluate your current skills and prepare for studying for your GED.  Note! 16, 17 and 18 year old students need special documents prior to orientation.

Become an Adult Learning Volunteer
Your experience is all that's needed to make a big difference in someone's life.  You'll learn how to tutor non-reading or low-level readers and help students with math anxiety.  The Laubach method is used to help you understand the philosophy, objectives and practices of teaching adults.  Call (740) 364-2333.

GED Test
Length of test: up to 8 hours; 2 half days or one day
Scheduled times: days and evenings available
Location: C-TEC Adult Education Center, 150 Price Road
Cost: $40 (paid to State GED Office)

To schedule the GED test
1.    Complete and submit your application to the Ohio GED Office.  Applications are available during GED classes, online at www.education.ohio.gov (then click on "Testing", then "GED", print copy or submit online), or we can mail an application to you.
2.    Include fee or fee waiver and age waiver if applicable.
3.    Call Ron Bruner, (740) 364-2267, three weeks after mailing.
If application has been processed, we will set up a test date for you. If you applied online, check the GED Web site after two days for application status; then, schedule your test online.
4.    YOUR APPLICATION MUST BE PROCESSED before scheduling a test date.

On the day of the test:
Bring picture I.D. (Ohio driver’s license, State of Ohio I.D., or U.S. passport). You cannot take the test without proper I.D. All pens, pencils and calculators will be provided.
